Dr. Nathan Sanders
Nathan is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Toronto. He is the Principal Investigator for the “Innovations in Linguistic Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Linguistics Curriculum and Beyond” project, which LEDIR is a main component of. His research is on the phonetics and phonology of spoken and signed languages, historical linguistics, and innovative and inclusive teaching in linguistics.

Dr. Lex Konnelly
Lex finished their PhD in the Departments of Linguistics and Sexual Diversity Studies at the University of Toronto, and was one of the first two Lead EDI TAs for this project. They are now a QA Analyst at Dialpad. Their doctoral research focused on linguistic innovations and advocacy in transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse communities of practice.

Dr. Pocholo Umbal
Pocholo finished his PhD in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Toronto, and was one of the first two Lead EDI TAs for this project. He is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. His research focuses on phonetic variation and change in ethnic varieties of Canadian English and heritage languages in Toronto.

Dr. Keren Rice
Keren is a University Professor Emerita in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Toronto. She is an instrumental collaborator who gave valuable guidance that shaped the project, especially in its early days. She specializes in theoretical phonology and documentation of Indigenous languages, especially in Northwest Territories, Canada.

Dr. Naomi Nagy
Naomi is a Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Toronto. She is also an instrumental early collaborator who gave valuable guidance that shaped the project, especially in its early days. She specializes in sociolinguistics, with a focus on heritage languages. A major output of her work is the ongoing Heritage Language Variation and Change Project.
