{"id":386,"date":"2022-04-04T17:44:49","date_gmt":"2022-04-04T17:44:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ledir.ling.utoronto.ca\/?page_id=386"},"modified":"2022-04-04T17:46:46","modified_gmt":"2022-04-04T17:46:46","slug":"affirming-writing","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ledir.ling.utoronto.ca\/?page_id=386","title":{"rendered":"Affirming Writing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In collaboration with Lisa Sullivan and Erin Vearncombe at the Writing-Integrated Teaching (WIT) Program at the Faculty of Arts &amp; Science, we organized and delivered a workshop called,<em> Affirming writing: Teaching writing about communities in affirming ways.<\/em> The goals of the workshop are (1) to help the participants understand what&nbsp;affirming&nbsp;writing&nbsp;is and the complexities associated with it and (2) to equip participants with tools to help teach their students about&nbsp;affirming&nbsp;writing. In the workshop, we will look at 4 case studies: Indigenous communities, immigrant communities, transgender communities and Deaf communities.
